Our Weekend Away With Cloth

This past weekend we went on a CREDO family enrichment retreat.  My husband and i talked back and forth if we thought we could do cloth for the whole weekend 2 nights and 3 days away with no washer and dryer or if we wanted to grab a pack of disposables.  In the end we decided what the heck we can totally do a weekend we have done it before but we have done it at peoples houses that had a washer and dryer just in case we needed it.  I was worried that we didn't have enough diapers or that going that long without washing would be bad for them.  I normally do wash every other day, so adding that extra day in there had me a bit worried!!  As soon as we got home Sunday though i promptly put all the diapers in the wash, i only had 6 left and knowing we use around 3-4 at night time i knew i couldn't make it till morning without doing diaper laundry.  So we made it by the skin on our chin!!

How the weekend went in cloth:

We left Friday around noon after we got everything packed up, picked up a book on CD for the journey and dropped our foster mama and 3 kittens back off to the shelter.  Of course about 15 minutes into our two and a half hour journey the baby decided to poop!!  So yummy stinky baby diaper right off the bat to deal with all weekend!!  It seems to never fail, though, the last time we traveled for a weekend away he pooped as well right at the beginning of our trip, but i ended up doing a load at my mothers house just so the diaper would not have to sit all poopy the whole weekend.  Minus the poopy diaper right off the bat we had no issues and it was just like cloth diapering at home.  We actually got to meet another cloth diapering family but they choose to do disposables for the weekend.  Seeing us doing cloth and braving it they said the next time they traveled they were going to try it too!! So, woohoo for being a model.  In the short five and half months we have been cloth diapering i have definitely gained confidence and tons of knowledge.
